SG Foam was born in Águeda in 1991. It went through a fire, a reconstruction, two generations of the same family and today it is certified, internationalized and has 16 sectors of activity. This is our story.

Who we are
SG Foam is a Portuguese family business based in Borralha, Águeda. We work with technical materials using state-of-the-art equipment to develop tailor-made solutions for the most demanding industries: from the military to cosmetics, from jewelry to automobiles.
We are ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certified by TÜV Rheinland, we export to seven countries and we believe that technical rigor and human closeness are not contradictory objectives. They are the same thing.

He founded SG in 1991 and has led the company through three decades of transformation - including the complete rebuilding of the facilities in two weeks after a fire in 2010. His experience is the backbone of the company.

He returned to Portugal in 2016 to lead a new phase for SG - new materials, new image, new technological paths. Responsible for the strategic positioning and expansion of the portfolio.

He joined the company in 2020 to lead technical product development and design processes. His rigor and quality control have been key to SG's internationalization.
Our journey
Launch of the 2026 Catalog, with 16 sectors of activity, technical tables of materials and laser engraving. Consolidation of the LINK project and reinforcement of the environmental commitment to the Iberian lynx and the Mata do Buçaco.
Thirty-five years after its inception, SG Foam is a Portuguese benchmark in the technical transformation of foams. The next chapter involves deepening its international presence, developing new sustainable materials and continuing to treat each project as if it were the only one. That principle has never changed.
We increased our team and added a continuous process improvement component to our quality department. We signed a partnership with the Kaizen Institute. We attended our first trade fair, Logipack, in Lisbon.
ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certification. Investment in new processing equipment. Renewal of digital communication. SG arrives on the international market with formal credentials and a solid history.
We acquired our waterjet machine with two cutting heads, which allowed us to increase our production capacity.
We created our RDI department to support customers and increase our knowledge of in-house product development.
Ana Rita Gomes joins the company to head up product development. SG moves to new premises in Borralha and consolidates its presence in European markets - France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Holland, Italy and Morocco.
Hugo Gomes returns to Portugal and joins the company. New materials, new visual identity, new technological paths. SG is modernizing without losing its roots.
On December 31st, SG's premises burned to the ground. In two weeks, José Gomes - with the support of suppliers and clients - rebuilt the company in a new space. The end of one cycle was the beginning of the next.
Marketing of technical packaging materials begins. The portfolio begins to gain depth and SG enters new industrial sectors.
The company moved into the processing of polyurethane foams in the comfort sector. It was the first step towards what would become the core of the business.
José Gomes founded SG in Águeda. The first years were focused on office and home furniture - the starting point of a decades-long construction project.
